Forest map

Been working on the forest map. I created 3 new trees just to make the forest seem more lively. I will now also include those trees in other maps (in other words … I’ll have to redo District 3 again). Here’s a work in progress shot:

The houses are placeholders, and will be replaced by James’s workshop (top right), and a hot spring (left). The hot spring is a homage to Harvest Moon’s Hot Spring, as well as a breeding place for anime parodies involving hot springs. Oh yeah, I’m gonna have fun making cutscenes involving the hot spring ;)

The new and improved tailoring system

After a few days of beta-ing going on, I have fixed most bugs that my betatesters have found (thanks guys!) and I figured it is time to record the new tailoring system and show everyone how it works. Here’s the video:

And in other news, I have created a new tree for the maps! Whoohoo, a new tree!

Erm yeah, it’s not much, but I did spent 2 hours on making it! I will make 1 (or maybe 2) other tree for more variety in the game.

Edit: I continued making more trees and here’s a picture of all the trees that will be in the game:

I forgot to make the cherry blossom tree with leaves though, but I’ll do that later. For now, these are all the trees :)

Tailoring System coming out in beta soon!

Sky00Valentine has finished the command window script, which means I can now add icons to the script. I can finally finish the tailoring system (they didn’t have any icons included so I couldn’t continue), so the beta for the tailoring system will be coming out soon. I’ll have it tested by 6 people and after it’s fixed I’ll make a new video of the new tailoring system :)

Here’s a screenshot of the completed Scarf window.

Joselina has been upgraded!

Because Joselina was the very first sprite I created (out of everything really), which means it is now about a year old already, I realized the sprite sucked. Especially the hair. Especially … the hair. So I fixed her up, compare for yourself!

Zoomed in version:

The new sprite now has extra shadows, much better detailed hair that also sways in the direction you’re walking and that’s about it. Looks much better.

Revamping maps

I’ve been pondering whether or not to redo some of my map objects or not. I decided that yes, it’s best if I redrew some things. I’ve redrawn the trees, made new streetlights, added a buttload of new flowers and I’m fixing the animation glitch in the river of all the maps which contain the river. I started on district 3. I am also getting rid of those huge shadows the buildings make and replaced them by small, less obstructive shadows.

It went from this:

I love those new streetlights I made, and they look really good during nighttime. Here’s a screenshot in-game when it’s night:

Now I need to start working on redoing all the maps. I’m planning on adding a few more different types of trees, especially in the forest area.

Oliver and Niki

After a hectic week of exams, I started working on some facesets. Meet Niki and Oliver:

Oliver is a geeky and shy guy with a huge crush on the mayor, Lily. Niki works at the bakery and is friends with Calvin and Roy.

I had fun working on Oliver’s hair, it only took me about 15 minutes, which is pretty fast. Niki’s hair on the other hand …

Beach finished

After some animation hell, I’ve finally finished the beach and in all its animated glory:

I might just make a video recording the beach map, because I have these adorable little crabs running around on the beach. When you get close to them, they bury themselves in the ground and won’t appear again until you walk away. I totally ripped this idea from LoZ: the Wind Waker, because their crabs were just so cute I had to add something like this to my game.

Beach progress

While I’m waiting for a script to be tweaked so I can finally release the beta to my betatesters, I’ve been working on my beach map at the moment. Here’s what I got so far:

So far the sand and ocean are done. I’m still working on getting the river to flow into the ocean, so that part isn’t done yet. This is going to be a bitch to animate once the map is complete @_@

Some new, and some improvements

I’m totally ignoring working on my beta, and instead I was working on creating sketches for my other characters (and improving some new ones). So here’s the most recent cast shot:

The new characters are from the top right: Veronica (short brunette, Jeff’s mother), Oliver (chestnut haired glasses guy) and Carol (old lady with a bun, a doctor).

Improvements on these characters: Bonnie has been improved with her facial expression. Nadya has a slimmer face to appear more feminine (she was too fat before). Jack got new eyes that seem more like The Prince Of Tennis eyes … Eddie got new eyes as well. Can’t forget Percy who’s eyes also changed.

Tailor Tales Beta 2.0

I know I haven’t posted anything in a while, but I was busy trying to revamp the tailoring system in TT. FOr a while I was waiting for a custom script to be made, so I could remake the system, and now I’ve beenĀ  recreating it. Because there’s like over 200 clothes to be made (most of them are just different colours), it takes a while for me to set it up as I have to do a bunch of stuff to make just *1* clothing.

Anyways I was hoping for it to be done by today, or at least tomorrow, so people can beta test the tailoring system.

Uhm, no, you’re not invited. The beta testing is exclusively for RPG Maker VX community members as they know what they should be looking for (plus I know them as well). Beta does not mean a playable game, it just means I need people to help me find for bugs, that is all.

Once the tailoring system is done I’ll post a few screenshots how the new system looks like.
